Digital Ice is used when scanning colour films. This removes all scratches, artifacts and dust. However, the Digital Ice system does not with Black and White Films.
So some scratches and dust marks may remain on the image after scanning.
Before scanning, we make sure that the equipment and film is as dust free as it can be, but inevitably, dust, scratches and other artifacts will be seen on the scans, especially at higher magnification.
Clients should be aware of this limitation as a condition of putting work in with us and should also be prepared to photoshop these Black and white scans as required.
Pop into our store in Highgate London and chat to our friendly staff about your requirements.

Please note - All materials left in the lab must be collected within one month of the work having been completed - otherwise storage charges may apply (£5/month) or the work may be disposed of:(

At our London-based professional photolab, we offer high-quality scanning services for 120 medium format negatives that have already been developed. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or a hobbyist looking to preserve your film photographs, our 120 scanning service ensures your images are digitized with the utmost care and precision, capturing every detail with clarity and vibrancy.
120 film is a popular medium format film used by both professional and amateur photographers for its ability to capture more detail and offer superior image quality compared to 35mm film. The film’s larger size allows for greater tonal range, richer textures, and sharper details, making it ideal for portrait, landscape, fashion, and fine art photography.
Since medium format film is traditionally used for larger, high-resolution prints, it is crucial to have it scanned correctly to preserve its quality. This is where our professional scanning services come in.
When you send your developed 120 film to our photolab, our scanning team takes extra steps to ensure the best possible results. We use state-of-the-art equipment, specifically designed for medium format negatives, to capture every nuance of your images. Our lab utilizes high-resolution scanners capable of producing digitized files in resolutions that can exceed 4000 dpi, ensuring that your negatives are scanned at a level of detail perfect for large prints, archiving, or digital editing.
High Resolution: Medium format film is prized for its resolution and depth. Our scanners capture this detail, creating digital files that retain the sharpness, grain structure, and color accuracy you expect from a high-quality film. We can provide scans in various file formats, including TIFF, JPEG, and PSD, depending on your needs.
Color Accuracy: We understand that the colors in your photos matter. Our professional scanning process ensures that the colors of your negatives are accurately represented in digital form. We offer color correction services to ensure that your images match your original vision, adjusting for any inconsistencies in color balance or exposure that may have occurred during the film development process.
Dust and Scratch Removal: While we pride ourselves on providing the highest quality scans, we also understand the nature of film and how it can accumulate dust and scratches during handling. Our scanning process includes software-assisted dust and scratch removal, ensuring your digital images are clean and free from imperfections.
File Flexibility: We know that every photographer has different needs when it comes to their digital files. Whether you’re looking for a simple JPEG for social media sharing or a high-resolution TIFF file for large-format printing, we can provide files in a variety of formats, sizes, and resolutions.
Preservation and Archiving: Scanning your medium format negatives ensures that your precious photographs are preserved for future generations. In addition to digital copies, you can also create backup archives to safeguard against loss or damage to your original film.
Sending your already developed 120 film for scanning is simple. First, carefully package your negatives to ensure they are protected during transit.
